Deployment Has Arrived



Since China’s national backbone network began its shift from 100G/200G generation to 400G generation in 2024, all three major network operators have entered a rapid deployment phase for 400G networks. Meanwhile, 800G OTN is also advancing vigorously. However, through close collaboration with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), network operators, and equipment vendors, HYWICOM has identified persistent challenges in field testing for 400G+ networks, including limitations in test bandwidth capacity, protocol completeness, operational intelligence, and cost efficiency.

 Inability to Use Multiple Ports Simultaneously


For example, operators and vendors require simultaneous use of 400G/100G and 10G ports. However, existing portable testers have long suffered from the inability to use 400G/100G and 10G ports concurrently.

 Limited Support of Form Factors and Rates


Current portable testers fail to support main-stream optical interfaces at the same time, such as QSFP-DD, OSFP, OSFP-RHS, CFP2, and SFP. They also cannot handle multiple rates simultaneously, such as 800G, 400G, 200G, 100G, 10G, forcing users to purchase multiple testers for different rates and form factors — drastically increasing procurement, operational, and testing costs.

 Incomplete Protocol Coverage and Test Functions


Compared to lab-grade testers used by R&D, portable field testers often omit critical Ethernet and OTN protocols and test functions, such as multi-stage multiplexing for OTN services and test automation.

Some testers, due to operating system issues (e.g., the global “Blue Screen of Death, BSOD” incident last year), suffer from frequent crashes and instability during long-term testing – a major flaw for critical field deployments.
